Motorists warned of potentially icy conditions on Lancaster County roadsFree Access

LINCOLN — A winter storm Saturday triggered a warning to motorists about traveling on county roads in Lancaster County.

Lancaster County Engineer Pam Dingman on Saturday warned of potentially hazardous conditions on both paved and gravel roads following Saturday’s storm. Icy road conditions are expected to persist Sunday.

The county deployed its 45 plows and pick-up trucks at 5 a.m. Sunday on intersections and paved roads. Dingman said her office will continue to monitor the county paved roads and adjust its plan as needed throughout the next few days, during which additional winter storms are expected to bring even more snow to the region.

Dingman recommended drives allow for extra time when traveling. She also reminded drives to stay at least 100 feet back from crews treating roads.

Anyone with road concerns can contact the Lancaster County Engineering department at 402-441-7681. The Lancaster County Engineer’s website has a complete listing of roads and bridges currently closed in the county.
